Sliding elements for escalators
Made from high-performance thermoplastics, faigle’s escalator industry products and solutions have already made an excellent name for themselves. Besides rollers, the company focuses on sliding elements and shock absorbers, in particular relief track profiles, sliding pads and step bushings. Customers value these parts due to the choice of specialised materials, as well as precision manufacturing approaches, including fully automated injection moulding. faigle’s sliding elements deliver outstanding benefits in terms of robustness, safety and optimum reliability under various conditions.
Products
Plastic sliding elements – product range
Relief track profiles
Relief track profiles reduce the load on the chain rollers around the upper deflection curve, where loads are at their greatest due to the weight of the users and of the escalator itself. Made from our PAS-C60 L oil-lubricated cast polyamide, our relief track profiles combine high load-bearing capacity with effective damping. The oil additive helps to increase safety, as this maintains low-wear operation even in the event of rust blocking the chain bushings.
Sliding pads
Sliding pads provide lateral guidance for the steps, prevent the steps from rubbing against the guide plates, and ensure play-free, low-noise running. These products need to have a long service life under a wide range of weather conditions, as well as resistance against oil, grease and anti-corrosives, and good damping and sliding properties. faigle sliding blocks are made from specially designed PAS-PE using fully-automated injection moulding.
Step bushings
Escalator step bushings connect the steps with the drive chain and bear the weight of both the step and the passengers. Our bushings are in operation around the world in various different climatic conditions. Besides a long service life, step bushings must have good damping and sliding properties, and be resistant to oil, grease and anti-corrosives. Injection-moulded bushings feature a thermoplastic compound comprising hard and soft components, as well as a dry lubricant.
Sliding elements – quality
faigle has set itself high quality standards and takes steps to ensure that all of its products meet the defined quality specifications. Product quality is evaluated, measured and recorded using a series of test scenarios that we developed in-house. Quality management plays an accompanying role throughout our development and production processes, in order to make sure that the results satisfy all of the applicable requirements. Our extensive range of testing equipment and approaches, as well as certification by several external organisations, is a clear signal of our commitment to maximising quality for our customers. These quality requirements also apply to our sliding elements and shock absorbers – robust, safe, durable and reliable, they meet international quality standards and also deliver unrivalled value for money.
FAQ
What are faigle sliding elements made from?
Our sliding elements are made from a range of premium materials – depending on the series, they are tailored to the specific requirements and the product specifications for the application in question. When it comes to the material composition, the emphasis is on ensuring a high load-bearing capacity, a long service life thanks to high wear-resistance, as well as easy assembly and effective damping and sliding properties.
faigle produces relief track profiles made from PAS-C60 L, an oil-lubricated cast polyamide. For sliding pads we use a special type of plastic – called PAS-PE – in our injection-moulding process. Our step bushings are made from a thermoplastic compound comprising a hard and a soft component, as well as a dry lubricant, in accordance with the specifications. Just contact us if you require further information and details about our materials.
Where are sliding elements and shock absorbers used?
faigle sliding elements and other parts are used for various purposes in escalators and moving walks all over the world. They play a significant role in enhancing user comfort, safety and durability. Take the relief track profiles fitted in escalators, for example – they have a particularly important job to do in the upper deflection curve, where they help to bear the weight of the passengers and the load on the chain roller. Step bushings connect the escalator steps to the drive chain, while sliding pads provide lateral guidance for the steps and ensure play-free, quiet running. faigle also supplies other components that help to enhance comfort and safety for escalator users.
